Camp Schedule & Music Classes
Days:  Monday through Friday
Times: 8:00am - 3:30pm (includes lunch and afternoon snack)
Summer Music Camp Tuition includes music education and an adventure in up to 8 music disciplines: piano, guitar, violin, drums (drum set and drum corps), steel pan, voice (singing); with music theory that provides an introduction to woodwinds and brass instruments. Each music camper must choose ONE PRIMARY instrument and TWO ELECTIVE instruments to learn in classes. The music education classes for the 3 music disciplines (primary, secondary and third electives) are conducted in the morning and the ensemble classes occur in the afternoon.  Music theory is incorporated into class instruction, either on computer, through class instruction, or games.  All students are assigned preselected classes and class schedules based on their music selections, availability and class size. Each discipline is conducted in separate air-conditioned classrooms.  There is an instructor and helper for each music discipline.  G-Clef supplies several instruments for each class.  There is a morning break, in which children can have a morning snack that he/she brings from home.

Lunch and an afternoon snack are served through the VI Department of Education's Food Service Program, when it is provided during the summer.  After lunch, students learn to play together in various ensembles:  steel pan, guitar, violin, percussion, orchestra, choir, and interpretive dance.  This gives them the opportunity to play their secondary and third instruments in a group setting, as well as learn woodwinds and bass instruments used in the youth orchestra.

A Grande Summer Camp Recital, at the close of the camp, on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 4:00pm, will feature each student's primary instrument, along with various ensembles, including steel pan, guitar, violin, Pop percussion band, youth orchestra, choir and dance.  The location will be determined.  For students, who leave before August 4th, two Mini-Recitals will be scheduled at G-Clef Hall at 5:30pm.  Dates to be determined.
